#1 seeded Medfield Girls Basketball improved to 22 and 2 overall and earned a trip to the Division 2 State Championship with a 60-46 win over #5 Oliver Ames in a D2 State Semi-Final matchup at Taunton High School on Monday Night.
In the game, Sophomore, Izzy Kittredge led the way for the Warriors with a team-high 21 points, Tess Baacke (Soph) added 13 points and 9 rebounds, Annie Stanton (SR) and Naya Annigeri (Fr) also had 10 points each for Medfield.
Medfield outscored Oliver Ames in 3 of the 4 quarters, it was a 15-8 Medfield lead after the 1st, at the half Medfield led 29-17, they led 52-32 after the 3rd quarter and the bench took over for a large portion of the 4th quarter as Medfield took full control of the game with the 23-point 3rd quarter performance!
Medfield next advances to the D2 State Championship to take on the Winner of Tuesday’s matchup between #7 Northampton and #6 South High Community at the Tsongas Center. Time and Date TBA.
This will be the Medfield Girls first State Championship since 2017 where they beat Arlington Catholic to claim the state title, 47-34. Other recent Medfield Girls Bball State Championship appearances include 2015 in which they fell short vs Duxbury and 2013 where they beat Nashoba 54-36.
