Medfield Girls Soccer Advances Past Foxborough After Penalty Kicks

#6th Seeded Medfield improved to 14-3-3 after a overtime playoff victory against #14th Seeded Foxborough (11-9-0).

Foxborough scored the 1st goal in the 1st half. Medifeld Junior, Taylor Sherman would tie it up in the 2nd half but with 23 minutes left, Foxborough grabbed the 2-1 lead. With 5 minutes left in the game, Medfield Senior, Sophia Ouimette re-tied the game after heading in a corner kick.

Both teams failed to score in 10 minute overtime periods, so the game would be settled with penalty kicks. Medfield Junior, Margaret McCarthy started off with a goal, Foxboro responded, Sophomore, Casey Chin would then make it 2-1 Medfield in Pk’s, Foxborough Junior, Lily Sykes responded with a goal. Medfield Junior, Alanna Cooney netted 3rd, Foxborough Goaltender, Hallie Canfield tied the PK’s at 3-3. Canfield then got the save on a Margaret Hurley PK attempt. Foxborough Senior, Jamie Graham and Medfield Senior, Lauren Casieri would both net the final 2 pk’s giving Foxborough Senior, Lauren Flahive a chance to win the game for the Warriors. Medfield Junior Goalkeeper, Emma Hilvert made the save on the Flahive attempt to send the game to sudden death Penalty Kicks.

Medfield Junior, Samantha Nemerowski started off with a goal followed by a Foxborough Senior, Riley Collins attempt that was saved by Medfield goalkeeper, Emma Hilvert to give Medfield the 3-2 overtime win.

The Warriors advance to the South Division 2 Semi-Finals against #15th seeded Canton (10-7-2). Date, Time and Place TBA.

On the other side of the South D2 bracket, #13th seeded Holliston advanced to the Semi-Finals against #1 seeded Hingham after defeating #12th seeded Duxbury 2-1 after penalty-kicks.
