🏆 Alumni Athlete Spotlight: Victoria McGowan ‘24
Not far removed from 200 Nahatan… and already making major noise at the next level.
Some athletes leave a legacy at Westwood and move on… others carry it with them and keep building. Victoria McGowan is doing exactly that — continuing a tradition from one of Westwood’s most decorated athletic families, long known as pillars of the town’s sports history.
🎓 Westwood High School Career
• Four-year varsity track & field athlete under Coach Jen Teahan
• Senior captain and leader of a TVL Championship team
• 2023 & 2024 Tri-Valley League All-Star
• 2024 Tim Chant Coaches Award recipient
• Holds TWO school records:
– Triple Jump: 35’7.5”
– 4x100m Relay: 50.5
• Career PRs: 13.22 (100m), 35’7.5” (TJ)
But Victoria’s story is bigger than just results. She embraced trying new things — from gymnastics to swim & dive (top 10 in the state) — and turned opportunity into excellence. That mindset helped define her time at Westwood.
📚 Off the Track
• 4.45 GPA
• National Honor Society (2 years)
• Spanish National Honor Society (3 years)
• Seal of Biliteracy (Spanish & English)
• Events Manager, Cancer Kids First — driven by compassion and purpose
➡️ Now at Holy Cross
And here’s the best part… she’s just getting started.
Currently a sophomore at Holy Cross, Victoria is already making her mark:
• 1st place – URI Coaches Invitational (Triple Jump)
• 8th – New England Intercollegiate Championships
• 10th – Patriot League (Indoor) with a new PR (11.3m)
• 3rd – Bryant University Invite (Spring opener)
And just as impressive in the classroom — Victoria has earned a 4.0 GPA in 2 of her first 3 semesters, an incredible accomplishment while balancing the demands of Division I athletics and a packed student-athlete schedule.
From 200 Nahatan to Holy Cross… and still rising.
