#4 seeded Norton Lancers Softball took down #5 St. Mary’s in the D3 Round of 8, 1-0. Sophomore, Liana Danubio pitched the complete game and gave up only 1 hit while striking out 6 to help the Lancers to the victory.
The only run of the game came on a wild pitch as Sophomore, Maddy Medeiros plated a run in the bottom of the 3rd. The game was a true pitchers dual and Danubio was able to shutout a dangerous St. Mary’s lineup all game long.
Norton improves to 21 and 2 overall and will next take on #1 Dighton-Rehoboth for a trip to the State Championship in the D3 State Semi-finals on Thursday, June 13th, 4:30pm at Umass Dartmouth.
Norton as a team has an impressive .343 batting average but has found an absolute ACE and big-game winning pitcher with Sophomore, Liana Danubio who has 20 wins, 1 loss and a stunningly good 0.95 ERA on the season. Liana has also started all 21 games and completed 18 of them while shutting out 8 opponents. This season she has 20 wins and 1 loss overall in the pitcher’s circle!
