-Baseball: Medway defeats Medfield 17 to 4
Medway improves to 15 and 5 (12-4 in TVL), Medfield fell to 12 and 8 (10-6 in TVL) as the Medway bats plate 11 runs in the 1st inning!
Prior to Wednesday May 20th, Medway & Medfield last met on Wednesday April 29th and it was a pitcher dual type of game that went down to the wire and resulted in a Medway 3-1 win. The 2nd meeting of the 25-26 spring season between the two “MED” TVL teams was a very different story!
The Medway bats came out swinging and plated 11 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Eli Kell doubled too score Jack Heavner & Aidan Tkowski. This was followed by a Jackson Duguay 2-run homer which also scored Eli Kell. Errors and walks kept the inning going and allowed multiple baserunners to reach. Adam Spallone had a sacrifice fly to score Michael Connor, Jack Heavner had a sacrifice fly to score Trevor Smith followed by an Eli Kell double to score Cooper Garvin and Aidan Tkowski and make it 8-0. Michael Connor singled to score Aidan Tkowski and that would be followed by a Trevor Smith 2-RBI single scoring Eli Kell & Jackson Duguay.
Medway also added 3 more runs in bottom of 2nd, 1 run in bottom of 3rd and 2 more in the bottom of the 4th and the game would end in the 5th inning via mercy with a final score of 17 to 4.
It was an ugly ending to the regular season for Medfield but Medway & Medfield are both going to be heading to the state tournament. Medway ends their regular season at 15 and 5, Medfield ends theirs at 12 and 8.

In the latest D3 MIAA state tournament power rankings, Medway was ranked #34, Medfield was ranked #32. Due to both teams having a Win-Loss record above .500 they will both make post season but could the seeds change with the Medway win over Medfield??… We will find out soon when the final MIAA state tournament rankings are released, Medway & Medfield could perhaps be a TVL-themed prelim matchup!
