The Hopkinton Hillers Girls Varsity Soccer team is rolling through their schedule so far. After a 3-0 non-league win vs Algonquin on Tuesday night, the undefeated Hillers stand at 8-0-0 and at the top of the TVL.

On Tuesday night, the Hillers hosted Algonquin under the lights for Kick Out Cancer night and Youth Soccer Night. Raffles and vendor sales raised money for the Dana Farber Cancer institute and the Jimmy Fund. Algonquin and Hopkinton met for the 3rd straight season and the Hillers win gave them the 2-1 series lead in what has become a great sports rivalry between the two schools. In the 22-23 meeting, Algonquin Girls took the 2-1 win at ARHS and in the 21-22 meeting, Hopkinton Girls won 2-1 at HHS Turf.

The combination of JR, Madison Recupero and SR, Georgie Clarke proved to be Algonquin’s kryptonite. Madison Recupero netted about a 20-yard bullet in the first half at 22:45 left to make it a 1-0 game. After getting tripped up on a near-open opportunity minutes later, SR, Georgie Clarke made up for it in a big way at 11:17 left as she impressively maneuvered past defenders and popped it in for the 2-0 lead. The 3rd goal occurred in the 2nd half when Madison and Georgie set up a tremendous give and go which would lead to Madison Recupero’s 2nd goal of the game and the 3-0 lead. Despite some good Algonquin pressure during the 2nd half, 3-0 would be the final result. The Hiller defense held impressively strong, Sophomore Goalkeeper Aila Chase made some great saves and Senior, Juliana Grontzos helped severely limit the attack zone.

After her 2 Goals vs Algonquin, Junior, Maddie Recupero now has a team-leading 9 goals on the season. Senior, Georgie Clarke’s goal was her 6th of the season and she now has a WHOPPING 41 goals in her Hiller Career. On top of that, Georgie Clarke added an assist and now has a team-leading 6 assists this season.

This Hillers Girls Soccer team is absolutely packed with talent and is expected to continue to do big things throughout the season and state tournament. This group has all the makings of a team that is set to continue to have a very special season!

The Hillers are next scheduled to host Medway on Thursday (Sept 28th) at 4pm. The game will be live on HCAM!
