-Hopkinton Girls Track and Field defeated Ashland in final meet of the season. Hopkinton improves to 4 and 1, Ashland falls to 1 and 4.
The Hopkinton girls track & field team won their final dual meet of the season Fri evening at Boston’s Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center with a score of 66-16. Both teams rested some athletes due to Sunday’s TVL League Showcase, which will be held a week earlier than normal at The Track at New Balance.
For the Hillers, senior Josie Hopkins won the 55m hurdles, placed second in the 55m dash, and took third in the shot put. Junior Abby Burke won the 300m and tied for second in the high jump. She also ran the 55m hurdles and earned personal bests in all three events. Junior Mary Finnegan jumped a personal best to win the long jump and also nabbed a personal best in the 55m hurdles. Junior Kaelyn Faber won the shot put in a big personal best. Senior Malia Grant and junior Meaghan Burdulis took first and second in the 600m, both in personal bests. Senior Elyse Srodawa and junior Julianna Dorfman won the 1000m and mile, respectively.
Freshman Emily Miller cleared 5’0″ for the first time to win the high jump. The all-senior team of Amanda Gooley, Ava Carboni, Katie Leccese, and Aubrey Thomas won the 4x400m relay. The Hillers swept two events–the 55m hurdles and the 1000m. In the hurdles, Hopkins, sophomore Kylie Rogers, and senior Alina Zhu. Rogers and Zhu both clocked personal bests. Srodawa led sophomore Wafiya Syeda and freshman Aroa Alonso in the 1000m. All three Hillers ran personal bests. Sophomore Grace Gallagher placed second in long jump and freshman Clara Bransfield placed third in the 300m. Ashland’s Natalia Melnick won the 55m dash and tied for second in the high jump. The Clockers also picked up second place finishes in the 300m (Bryannah Maximo) and shot put (Kelis Stapleton)
