-Baseball: Medway defeats Norwood 3 to 1 (May 6th 2026)
Medway improves to 11 and 3 on the season, Norwood falls to 8 and 4.
In what was a classic pitcher’s duel, Medway took a 3-1 win over Norwood on Tuesday. Sophomore, Ryan Heavner pitched all 7 innings for Medway giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run and struck out 6 hitters. Ryan Grenham (SR) pitched all 7 innings for Norwood giving up 8 hits, 3 runs (2 earned) and struck out 4 hitters.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning when Sam Larkee (SR) had a sacrifice fly-out to drive in Mike Grenham (SR) to give Norwood a 1-0 lead. Medway struck back in the top of the 4th. After singles by Trevor Smith (JR) & Jackson Duguay (SR), Adam Spallone (SO) singled following 2 fly-outs to drive in Smith and make it a 1-1 game.
The game remained at 1 to 1 until the top of the 6th. Jackson Duguay (SR) started off the inning with a triple and was driven in by a sacrifice flyout by Michael Connor (SO). The game remained a 2-1 Medway lead until the top of 7th where they added another run. Medway Captain, Jack Heavner (JR) started off the 7th with a double and would later advance on an errant throw which allowed Eli Kell (SO) to drive in Heavner with a sacrifice fly and gave Norwood the 3-1 lead heading into the Bottom of the 7th.
Ryan Heavner (SO) continued his strong pitching performance in the final inning, following a Dylan Begley (SR) flyout, Heavner struck out Kevin Roach (SR) & Brody Johnson (SO) swinging to secure the 3-1 win for Medway!
