Video: Ashland Legion Wins 1st two playoff games in Natick

On Saturday July 20th, Post 77 took down Hudson via a mercy in 5 innings 10 to 0. Brandon Grover went 4 for 4 at the plate with 2 stolen bases, 2 Rbi’s and scored 3 runs. Owen Ward pitched the complete game and stuck out 3 hitters and gave up just 3 hits.

On Sunday July 21st, Post 77 took down Lowell 3 to 2. It was a 2-1 Lowell lead into the bottom of the 6th. Jackson Hornung and Dom Cavanagh singled and Sean Jewett followed up with an RBI single to tie the game. Cole Glassburn then laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Cavanaugh to give Post 77 the lead. In the top of the 7th, the lead hitter for Lowell reached, Alex Almalfi struck out the next hitter and then Cole Glassburn earned the save, striking out the 2 following hitters.

In the championship round, Post 77 fell to Lowell 3 to 2 on Tuesday July 23rd. The game was moved to Hopkinton High School’s turf fields due to poor field conditions because of rain in Natick. Post 77 and Lowell will play again Wednesday Night (7/24) at Mahan Field in Natick at 7pm. The winner of the game will advance on to the state tournament.
