Norton Lancers Boys Hockey defeats Ludlow 3-2 in 2nd OT and advances to Round of 32!

The 29th seeded Norton Lancers hosted 36th seeded Ludlow in a Division 3 MIAA Playoff Prelim game on Monday Night at Foxboro Sports Center. It took 2 overtimes to declare a winner but Dylan Cummings (SR) netted the game winning goal 45 seconds into the 2nd OT for the Lancers 3-2 win. Norton now moves on to the Round of 32 where they will travel to McVain Arena in Peabody to visit #4 seeded Lynnfield. The Round of 32 game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (Feb 28th) at 8pm. Norton improved to 12-8-1 (W-L-T) with the win, Ludlow ends their season at 9-10-2.

In addition to the game-winning goal, Dylan Cummings also had the 1st goal of the game 42 seconds into the 1st period to make it a 1-0 game. Brady Sinclair (JR) then struck later in the 1st period to put Norton up 2-0. After a scoreless 2nd period, Ludlow struck for a pair of goals in the 3rd. Ludlow’s Ryan Kurtz struck at 7:55 left to go on a power-play and Ludlow’s Brice Pereira tied the game with 36.2 seconds left to go in regulation and the game would go to over-time!

After a scoreless 1st over-time which features 4 vs 4, the game went to a 2nd overtime which is 3 vs 3. The 3v3 2nd overtime did not last long however, Dylan Cummings struck 45 seconds into the 2nd-OT period, ending the game and sending the Lancers to the Round of 32.
