This past Sunday, #1 seeded, Medfield Girls Basketball defeated #6 seeded South High by a final of 48 to 42 at the UMASS Lowell Tsongas Center and claimed the Division 2 State Championship title! Medfield finishes their championship title season with a record of 23 wins and 2 losses. South High ends their season with 23 wins and 2 losses overall.
Medfield never trailed in the game and closed out their championship winning season with a dominant performance. Naya Annigeri (FR) led the Warriors with 16 points and Mary Palladino (SR) netted 12 points. Medfield outscored South 16-7 in the 1st, both teams scored 10 points each in 2nd quarter (26-17), Medfield outscored South in the 3rd quarter 17 to 15 and led 43-32 heading into the 4th. South High outscored Medfield 10-5 in the 4th quarter but would come up short as Medfield hung on to take the game 48-42.
