Girls Basketball: Medfield Wins D2 State Championship

On Saturday March 18th, the Medfield Warriors captured the Division 2 State championship defeating Arlington Catholic 47-34 at Blake Arena in Springfield, MA. Junior standout Maggie McCarthy dropped a team-high 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Last year, Medfield lost to Duxbury in the state championship game but this year they defeated 2014 State Champion, Arlington Catholic. Medfield outscored the Cougars in each of the first 3 quarters (11-10, 12-3 and 17-12), Arlington Catholic outscored Medfield in the 4th 9-7. Medfield finishes the state championship with the state championship title and a 23-2 record overall. Runner-up, Arlington Catholic finishes 19 and 7 overall. Also capturing the 2013 D2 State title, Medfield has now won 2 state championships in the past 5 seasons.
