TVL Football Playoff Predictions Week 8

Article By: Tom Nappi
Playoffs (All games unless noted at 7pm on Friday 10/20/2017):
Division 4: #8 Pembroke (2-5) @ #1 Hopkinton (7-0) – The Hillers clinched the TVL Large title in Week 7 with a very impressive 12-8 win over Holliston. The Hillers defense is the real deal and all season long has made big plays when it counted.

Although I think Hopkinton will win this game, I do think Pembroke will present a challenge despite their 2 and 5 record. Pembroke made the postseason because of their very hard regular season schedule. Pembroke lost their last 3 games to very tough opponents and they lost those games by only 3, 1 and 2 points. On average Pembroke gives up only 13.3 ppg while scoring 16, the Hillers score 26 on average and give up only 7 points per a game. I see this game trending towards a very good defensive battle.

Final: Pembroke – 13 Hillers – 21

Division 5 6:30pm: #7 Falmouth (4-3) @ #2 Medfield (6-1)CANDIDATE FOR FOX 25 GAME OF THE WEEK, VOTE HERE! – Falmouth has had a true up and down season. Falmouth is a team that one week will put up over 50 points but follow up with 6 points the next week. Falmouth scores 27 on average compared to the very potent Medfield Warriors who put up a whopping 36 PPG. On average, the Falmouth defense gives up 24 compared to nearly 19 for Medfield. This matchup has all the makings of an offensive shootout.

Final: Falmouth – 30 Medfield – 41

Division 5: #6 Holliston (3-3) @ #3 Scituate (6-1) – This match-up features a younger, less experienced Holliston team than we have seen in recent years against a very talented Scituate squad that has won 4 straight. In the last 4 weeks Scituate has scored on average 34 points.

Although you can never count out a Todd Kiley Coached Holliston team, I believe the experience and offensive firepower will give Scituate the edge in this one.

Final: Scituate – 24 Holliston – 19

Division 6: #5 Middleboro (5-2) @ #4 Dover-Sherborn (4-3) – Middleboro comes into post-season play on a 2 game losing streak while Dover-Sherborn comes off a dominate 31-7 win over a tough Bellingham team. This game features 2 well balanced teams and as the old saying goes, it’s a match-up that could go either way. With Middleboro having a 1 and 2 record on the road and the Raiders 3 and 1 at home, I think the home field advantage will be a big lift for the Blue Raiders. This should be a great battle!

Final: Middleboro – 20 Dover-Sherborn – 23

Division 6: #7 Dedham (4-3) @ #2 Old Rochester (6-1) – Dedham is riding high on a 2 game win streak after wins versus Bellingham and Medway coming into the playoffs but the Mauraders will have to deal with an Old Rochester offense that features a lot of firepower and experience. Old Rochester scores nearly 39 points per a game on average and I think may be a bit too much for the Dedham defense to handle.

Final: Dedham – 20 Old Rochester – 31

Division 8: #6 West Bridgewater (4-3) @ #3 Millis (6-1) – The defending State Champion, Millis Mohawks have not lost a game since week 1 and since then has dominated their opponents winning 6 straight by an average of 19 points. West Bridgewater features some offensive fire-power of their own but I do not think it will be enough to take down Millis.

Final: West Bridgewater – 20 Millis – 37

On any game I did not pick a TVL team, I hope I am wrong! Go TVL, bring home some titles!!!
