The #16 seeded Westwood Wolverines became the final TVL Baseball team standing following Monday Night’s action as they hung on to capture a 7 to 5 victory at home over #17 seeded West Springfield in the D2 Round of 32.

The Wolverines plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Dylan Kaplan (SR) hit a sacrifice fielders choice groundout to drive in Teddy Mcgowan (SO). It remained a 1-0 game until the bottom of the 3rd when Brendan Cengic (JR) hit a pop fly causing an error to drive in Jake Abdou (FR) and make it 2-0 Westwood.

West Springfield plated 3 runs in the top of the 5th and took a 3-2 lead but Westwood responded with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Westwood loaded the bases and with 1 out Warren doubled to drive in Ryan Petres (SO) & Brendan Cengic (JR), William Donahue (JR) followed with an RBI single to score Chase Warren (SO) and make it a 5-3 game and that’s how it stayed until the bottom of the 6th.

In the bottom of the 6th, the Wolverines plated 2 more runs; a Jonathan Bertone (SR) double scored Matt Donovan (JR) and that was followed up by an Abdou sacrifice fly to score Bertone. West Springfield loaded the bases with 2 outs and plated a pair of runs off a Matt Ashe double but that would be it. Westwood hangs on for the 7 to 5 win and became the only TVL Baseball team to advance to the Round of 16 this season.
