-On Saturday January 19th, Hopkinton Hillers boys hockey took on Holliston. The game was a defensive struggle for both sides with some great goaltender play. The Hillers got over 50 shots on net but Holliston goalie Nico Quatromoni kept the Hillers at bay making save after save. The Hilers would proove to be too much to handle for Holliston however. In the 3rd period. In the 2nd period with 1:35 Tommy Hamblet netted a goal which would proove to be the game winner. The Hillers improved to 8 wins 2 losses and 2 ties with the victory.
-On Wednesday January 23rd, the Hillers Hockey team hosted Norton. 30 seconds in to the 1st period, Tommy Hamblet continued where he left off against Holliston and netted a goal. Norton responded with a goal of their own 11:51 left in the period and no goals for either side throughout the remainder.
It wasn’t 1-1 for long into the 2nd period because Tommy Hamblet came through again with another goal 15 seconds into the period. It remained 2-1 heading into the 3rd. Hopkinton netted three 3rd period goals and took down Norton 5-1. With the win, the Hillers improved to 9 wins 2 losses and 2 ties which is 20 points on the season and officially clinches a playoff spot.
– On Tuesday January 22nd, the Hillers boys basketball team took on Medway. Hopkinton won 4 of their last 5 coming into the game and continued their momentum. In the 1st half, the Hillers took advantage of Medway’s struggles from the field. Tommy Ambrosone was the star of the 1st half racking up 13 of the Hillers 29 points. Hopkinton outscored Medway 11-8 in the 1st quarter and 18-12 in the 2nd to head into the halftime locker room with a 29-20 lead.
The 3rd quarter was a defensive struggle for both sides, Medway outscored Hopkinton 9-8. Hillers led 37-29 heading to the 4th. In the 4th quarter, the Hillers took advantage of Medway foul’s. The Hillers stuck 6 for 9 from the free-throw line. Elan Rosen added a pair of field goals as the Hillers outscored Medway 15-12 and took the game by a final of 52-41. The Hillers boys are now 6 and 4 on the season and 4 wins away from clinching a playoff spot. Medway fell to 7 and 3 overall.
-Other Hopkinton Hillers Winter Sports Teams: Girls Basketball is 4 and 7 overall on the season, Boys and Girls indoor track both undefeated at 4-0. Boys Swimming is 8 and 2, Girls Swimming 8 and 1 and Girls Hockey co-op with Dover-Sherborn is 3 and 6 on the season.
