-Hopkinton Girls opened their spring track & field season with a 93-43 win over Ashland at Ashland High School on Tuesday afternoon (Contributed Update)
For the Hillers, junior Bella Walkiewicz won two events (400m hurdles and 200m) and took second in the high jump and junior Isabel Walker won two events (100m hurdles and long jump) and placed third in the 200m. Junior Callie Owens won the 100m and anchored the winning 4x100m with juniors Kaelyn Geremia (also third in 100m) and Addie Morrissey (also third in 400m), and sophomore Clara Bransfield.Junior Evie Woodbury won the high jump, and placed second in javelin. Sophomore Jane Hopkins won the triple jump and placed third in 100m hurdles.
The Hillers swept four events–the javelin with Sophie Rasul, Woodbury, and junior Sophia Zanella, the mile with junior Lila Heling. Wafiya Syeda, and Jillian Toran, the triple jump with Hopkins, sophomore Charlotte Mazzeo, and junior Grace Gallagher, and high jump with Woodbury, Walkiewicz, and sophomore Emily Miller. Other Hopkinton event winners included senior Chloe Tumbleton in the 800m, senior Kaelyn Faber in shot put, and junior Ella Brooks in the discus. Junior Phoebe Klein nabbed a strong second place in the 400. Junior Ada Monopoli picked up thirds in both shot put and discus and sophomore Audrey Evans took third in the 2 mile.
For Ashland; junior Sophia Warnetski crushed the two mile and followed it immediately by anchoring the winning 4x400m relay, Ava Dittenhafer won the 400m and also ran a leg on the 4×400, along with Leah Dittenhafer (also second in 400m hurdles) and Madeleine Callahan (also second in the 800m). Kellis Stapleton took second in both shot put and discus.

Hiller first place finishes included; Ian Weilding (200 Meter – 23.31a), John Knutson (400 Meter – 52.48a), Darian Leo (1 Mile – 4:48.30a), Lucas Arnold (2 Mile – 10:55.75a), Max Keeler (110m hurdle – 16.77a), Jacob Logan (400m hurdle – 1:01.43a), 4×100 relay (Sanklap Nagineni, Daniel Ake, Parker Rivera, Aidan Pritchard – 49.21a), Ryan Morin (Shotput – 41-09.00), Joshua Jones (Discus – 122-07), William Boucher (Javelin – 138-04), Mason Barros tied Ashland’s Cole Lewis (High Jump – 5-10.00), Braden Lu (Long Jump – 20-05.75), Daniel Jun (Triple Jump – 37-08.50).
Hopkinton Boys & Girls Track & Field are scheduled to next host Holliston on Tuesday, April 7th, 4pm at Hopkinton High School. The meet will air Live on HCAM!
