(Contributed Article) Hopkinton pulls off the 4th quarter comeback to stun 10—3 Holliston at home. The first 16 minutes of the game was a defensive battle on both sides, with each team having to earn every point they scored. Holliston snagged the early edge taking a 3 point 18-15 lead into half time.
Coming out of the break, Holliston got hot and extended the lead. The Panthers’ hot streak was led by sophomore guard Spencer Aronson who scored 8 of his team high 15 points in the first 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter, bringing their lead to 32-21. But Hopkinton never folded and began chipping at the deficit, ending the 3rd quarter only down by 6 points, 37-31.
The 4th quarter belonged to the Hillers, who outscored Holliston in the final frame 24-10. This outburst was led inside by senior center Kyle Rector, who scored all of his 7 points in the 4th and senior captain Austin Odell, who scored 5 of his team high 14 points in the final quarter. Sophomore guard Ben McKenzie also stepped up in the clutch, hitting 7 free throws at the end up the game, allowing Hopkinton to hold on for the 55-47 win.
Other notable performances include junior guard Zach Sistsky who scored 13 points for Hopkinton. And for Holliston, senior captain Mike Alibrandi scored 11 points, good for the 2nd highest total on the team behind Aronson. With the win, Hopkinton moves up to an overall record of 7-8 on the season (7-7 in the TVL), their next game is tonight at Bellingham at 6:30pm. Meanwhile, this loss leaves Holliston with a 10-4 record, dropping them to 4th place in the TVL behind Medfield, Medway, and Westwood, all currently tied for 1st place. Holliston will take on those first place Medfield Warriors on the road tonight at 6:30pm.
