Due to a snowstorm that hit this past Thursday, the Division 2 Girls Soccer State Championship was moved last minute to Sunday 5pm at Marshfield High School. Hopkinton took on Winchester in an attempt to earn their 1st ever Girls Soccer state title.
In the 59th minute, the ball deflected and caught the arm of Riley Delaney allowing a penalty kick opportunity for Winchester. Senior Midfielder, Grace Casey took advantage of the opportunity and put the ball in the lower left corner of the net just pass the dive of Goalkeeper, Natalie Calkins to lead Winchester to the 1-0 win and the State title. The Hillers Girls finish the season with 13 wins, 4 losses and 6 ties overall. It was an absolutely incredible run by 1st year Head Coach, Wayne Sygrove and the Hopkinton Hillers Girls Soccer Team.
