Dover-Sherborn Alum, Nick Rinaldi receives prestigious awards & recognition for Football at Vanderbilt University

Dover-Sherborn alumni and Vanderbilt Linebacker (LB) Nick Rinaldi recently was named to the AP All-Bowl Team and was one of seven Vanderbilt University football student-athletes to be named an Academic All-District selection.

“Julian Ashby, Richie Hoskins, Langston Patterson, Nick Rinaldi, Cole Spence, Brock Taylor and Linus Zunk set a school record with seven selections, topping last year’s mark of five. Ashby and Taylor will now advance to the ballot for Academic All-America honors.”

Nick Rinaldi who who was known for participating in Basketball & Track & Field, added Football to his resume in his senior year at Dover-Sherborn HS when the season was moved to March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This allowed Rinaldi the opportunity to participate in all 3 sports which we would later be named a Tri-Valley league All-Star for all 3 sports (Basketball, Outdoor Track & Field and Football). Rinaldi was also named the Male student-athlete of the year at Dover-Sherborn. (Read more at Metrowest Daily News!)

“The Vanderbilt linebacker didn’t grow up envisioning himself as an SEC football player that would make an impact as Vanderbilt picked up some of its biggest wins in program history, he probably didn’t even think a high school football career was ahead of him.” – Joey Dwyer of TheDoreReport

“Hoskins and Rinaldi become the fifth and sixth players in school history to earn a spot on the list in multiple seasons and the second and third to accomplish the feat under head coach Clark Lea (Ethan Barr).”
“Rinaldi has recorded a 3.99 grade-point average while majoring in economics. The Dover, Massachusetts, product led the Commodores with six sacks this season while totaling 32 tackles and a pair of fumble recoveries. He ranked sixth in sacks among all SEC linebackers. He made the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll as a freshman and SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll last year and has been a Dean’s List selection every semester at Vanderbilt.”
