Ashland 10, Lowell 3
Lowell 000 003 0 (3)
Ashland 301 600 – (10)
-Ashland won their third consecutive home game vs Lowell, outscoring them 14-4 in the process.
-Ashland has now won 4 of their last 5 regular season games vs Lowell.
-Post 77 has outscored their Zone 5 opponents by an astounding 43-5 margin so far in 2019
-Ashland is the last remaining undefeated team in Zone 5.
-At an event last month, a Zone 4 Manager called Lowell “the premier team in Zone 5”. Needless to say, Ashland may have something to say about that. If Ashland’s Head Coach Jake Obid were to paraphrase Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy, he might say: “we wanted to show Lowell that we’re a good team too”.
-Jackson Hornung went 2 for 2 with two singles, a hit by pitch and 3 runs scored.
-Sam Farrell reached base in all 4 plate appearances, going 1 for 1 with a single, hit by pitch, two walks and two runs scored.
-Ashland had 5 consecutive hits in their 6 run eruption in the 4th inning. Those 5 hits included 4 doubles.
-The top four hitters in the lineup (Farrell, Grober, Hornung & Cavanagh) combined to score 8 of the 10 runs.
-Post 77 travels to Waltham later on tonight (7pm) and Medford late tomorrow afternoon (5:45pm), they have three days off before playing at Newton on Tuesday. That will be followed by a 5 day break in observance of July 4th week.
