On Tuesday July 9th, Ashland Legion Post 77 took down North Chelmsford 3 to 2 and earned their 10th win of the season. Ashland improved to 10 and 0 on the season with the victory. On Wednesday July 10th in Hudson, the Ashland Post 77 bats didn’t stop as they took down Hudson 17 to 3. It was a 6-3 Ashland lead heading into the Top of the 6th and then the Post 77 bats exploded for an 11 run inning. Post 77 improved to 11 and 0 with the win. View highlights below!
Every player in the Post 77 lineup scored at least 1 run in the game. Dom Cavanagh (2-4, 2R, 3RBI), Sean Jewett (3-5, 2R, 2RBI), Nick Calabrese (2-4, 1R, 1RBI). Kevin Balewicz (2-5, 2R). Cavanagh pitched 6 innings and gave up 2 earned runs and struck out 10 hitters.
On Thursday night, Lowell hosted Ashland Legion at Ashland Middle School due to a field conflict in Lowell. Ashland Legion was trailing 5 to 2 heading into the top of the 5th, a pair of throwing errors on a Cole Glassburn grounder allowed 2 Post 77 runs to score to make it a 5-4 game. Lowell added a run in the Bottom of the 6th and Post 77 found themselves trailing 6 to 4 and down to their final 3 outs.
In the top of the 7th with the bases loaded, Drew Rancatore ripped a double to drive in a run and then Kevin Balewicz would score on the same play after a bad throw to tie the game up. Cole Glassburn then hit an RBI single to put Post 77 on top 7 to 6. Catcher, Sean Jewett ended the game with a tremendous throw to second base from behind the plate to catch John Mercuri stealing.
