TVL Softball Week 1 Recap 4/17/16

By: Travis Taliaferro – Medfield Softball Head Coach

Despite the weather, we have had a good start to the season, much better than last year when we were dealing with snow and slush.

As expected, Norton came out strong, and is currently leading the TVL with a flawless 4-0 record, led by pitcher Kelly Nelson.  Close behind the Lancers is undefeated Bellingham, who notched victories over two tough opponents last week, Westwood and Ashland.  Both the Wolverines and the Clockers have begun the year on a positive note: Westwood is currently 3-1 while Ashland narrowly missed upsetting Norton on Friday, losing 2-1.  Along with Westwood, Millis and Medfield also have only one loss.

Individually, the pitchers are led by Kelly Nelson’s excellent start to the year, followed closely by Bri Mirabile of Hopkinton, Katie Eamer of Medfield, and Nicole Arcese of Holliston.

Medway’s lineup is making some noise on offensive, with Kiley Sheehan and Kerry Sendrick leading the league in batting average along with Westwood’s Simone Nevills & Jordan Jud, and Norton’s Steph Nosky, who has been responsible for several key RBI through the first two weeks.
