-Field Hockey: Dover-Sherborn comes from behind to defeat Hopkinton 3 to 2
-In the 1st quarter, Hopkinton Senior Captain Ella Fowler was assisted by teammate Senior Captain Mary Finnegan to give the Hillers a 1-0 lead with 7:25 left to go in the quarter. Dover-Sherborn Senior Captain, Elyse Bissada tied the game up at 1-1 with 8:02 left in the 2nd quarter. Hopkinton would regain the lead courtesy of an Avery Quebec (JR) backhanded shot for a score with 3:36 left and take the 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
The Dover-Sherborn offensive attack got going in the 3rd quarter, Sophia Wichman (SO) struck at 4:06 left to tie the game at 2-2, Reese Bent (SO) buried the go-ahead goal at 0:45 left in the 3rd quarter to put the Blue Raiders up 3-2 and that’s how the score would stay for the remainder of the game.
Dover-Sherborn officially clinches a state tournament spot and improves to 9 and 1 on the season, Hopkinton falls to 5-4-2 overall.
Dover-Sherborn next hosts Natick for a non-league tilt on Friday, October 3rd at 4pm. Hopkinton is next at Medway on Monday, October 6th for a 5:30pm game.
