Live on MY Fm, Presidents Day Monday, Milford clinched a playoff spot defeating Medway 73-46 and finishing the regular season with a 10 and 10 record. TVL Co-Champion Medway finishes the regular season 16 and 4.
Milford had one final chance to clinch a playoff spot Monday night and they took full advantage of it. The Scarlet Hawks outscored Medway in every quarter (19-11, 18-11, 19-11, 17-13) and dominated every facet of the game. Medway handed Milford a heartbreaking come from behind 55-54, loss back on January 4th but Milford would find revenge in a big way as they captured the dominate playoff clinching victory over Medway during the Scarlet Hawks senior night.
While Medway continued to improve and dominate the TVL throughout the 2nd half of the season, Milford hit a rough patch finishing the season 3-9 in their final 12 games. During the final week of the season Milford suffered a tough home loss to a young Sharon team and then fell to North Attleboro in a makeup game Sunday. Medway was riding high after they took down Holliston in their previous game last Friday to clinch a portion of the TVL title along with Westwood.
The Scarlet Hawks got the offense rolling early and often and never struggled too much from the floor. The Milford offense was very consistent as they hit 8 field goals in the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters and 7 in the 3rd. With recent big wins, Milford and Medway both enter the post season on a high note. The Scarlet Hawks will likely have to travel throughout the post season while Medway should have a high seed. Both teams compete in the Central Division 2 regional bracket so perhaps they will meet again during the postseason.
