On Saturday November 15th at Billerica High School, Bellingham won their first Girls Volleyball state title in School history! #1 seeded Bellingham took down a very tough #3 seeded Joseph Case team 3 sets to 1 to capture the Division 3 State Championship.
Bellingham took a back & forth first set with an ACE from Aubrey Callery to cap off the 27-25 first set win. Set two continued the back & forth trend and went into extra time as Bellingham needed 28 points to close it out. Mia Milani (JR) struck with an ace to close out the set 28 to 26 and put the Blackhawks up 2 to 0 in the match.
In the third set, Case overcame a 9-3 Bellingham lead to take the set 25-21. The fourth set was another action-packed, intense back and forth battle. An Ace by Kayleigh Simpson which put the Blackhawks up 18-15 marked the beginning of an 8 to 3 run for the Blackhawks which would be capped off by a Mia Milani point to clinch the set 25 to 18 and give the Bellingham Blackhawks the 3-1 match victory plus their first Girls Volleyball State Title in School history!
Bellingham finishes their State Championship winning season with a record of 22 wins and 2 losses. Joseph Case finishes with 22 wins and 3 losses. Bellingham also finished their incredible season with 17 sweeps!
