Baseball: D3 24-25 MIAA State Tournament Round of 32 Prelims Recap: Ashland, Medway, Dover-Sherborn, Medfield

Medway, Medfield, Dover-Sherborn capture wins in the 2024-2025 MIAA D3 State tournament prelims to advance to the Round of 32, Ashland falls short in 12 innings.

-#33 Martha’s Vineyard defeats #32 Ashland 4 to 3 in 12 inning battle

An RBI sacrifice fly-out for Martha’s Vineyard to put them up 4 to 3 ended up being the winning play of the game in the pitcher-dual extra-innings affair. #20 Chris Bratica pitched an excellent 8 innings for Ashland giving up 1 run on 4 hits.

Ashland concludes their incredible season with a record of 12 and 9.

-#22 Medway defeats #43 Nashoba Valley Tech 11 to 1

The Medway bats went off in their prelim game hosting #43 NVT. Medway plated 2 runs in the 1st and 2nd and 5 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd. #8 Jack Heavner went 2 for 3 with 4 Runs, #45 Trevor Smith went 2 for 4 with a Run and RBI and #24 Jackson Duguay went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 Runs and an RBI. #15 Matt Olynciew & #11 Charlie Hosmer combined on the mound to pitch 6 scoreless innings for the Mustangs.

Medway improves to 13 and 8 and will next head to #8 Arlington Catholic (12-6) on Monday June 2nd at 4pm. (Time subject to change, please check Miaa brackets)

-#26 Dover-Sherborn defeats #39 Groton-Dunstable 7 to 3

A four-run 3rd inning proved to be enough to push the Blue Raiders on to the Round of 32. In their win, #5 Matt Bowen drew 2 walks and plated 2 runs, #27 Will Forman went 1 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and 2 Runs, #4 Jackson Shusda went 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI, #7 Peyton Shusda went 1 for 2 with a run and an RBI and #39 John Clark went 1 for 2 with an RBI. #4 Jackson Shusda pitched all 7 innings giving up 3 runs (all earned) and 6 hits while striking out 2.

Dover-Sherborn improves to 13 and 8 and next heads to #7 Sandwich (15-5) for a meeting on Sunday, June 1st at Noon!

-#24 Medfield defeats #41 Greater Lowell Tech 4 to 1 and advances to the Round of 32

Medfield trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the 5th but an #3 Alex Zilora single to drive in #1 CJ Herrick tied the game at 1 and Medfield added security in the bottom of the 6th plating 3 more runs! In the bottom of the 6th, a #24 Luke Gobbin single scored #16 Daniel Vazquez which was followed up by a 2-RBI single by #1 CJ Herrick to drive in #8 Adam Farne & #6 Cam Hanna. #24 Luke Gobbin was sensational on the mound pitching all 7 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 3 hitters.

Medfield improves to 12 and 8 and will next visit #9 North Reading (16-4) in the Round of 32. Time & Date to be announced. View More!
