Medway High School recently honored eight senior student-athletes who have committed to compete at the collegiate level with a signing ceremony.

On May 1, the seniors were joined by their families at Medway High School to recognize the colleges they will attend and compete at in the fall.

“It has been an honor to watch these students grow in their academics and athletics for the past four years,” said Athletic Director Jeff Parcells. “The dedication and persistence they have demonstrated during their time here is impressive, and I know they will continue to thrive at the collegiate level. I wish them all the best and we will be cheering them on from Medway.”

Emily Dougenik, who will play women’s soccer at Nichols College, and Anna Freeman, who will play women’s basketball at Babson College, were both recognized at the signing ceremony.

Separately, several student-athletes were honored after their track and field meet on May 5, as they were competing at the MSTCA D5 Relays during the initial signing ceremony:

Chase Barucci — men’s track and field at Worcester State University
Dylan Costa — men’s track and field and football at Western New England University
Myles Hoffman — men’s track and field at SUNY Plattsburgh
Charles LaMonica — men’s swimming at Keene State University
Victoria Ribao — women’s track and field at the University of Scranton
Lillian von der Heyde — women’s track and field at the University of Southern Maine

The following student-athletes committed to compete at the collegiate level during the fall:

Ava Cortis — women’s field hockey at Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Bella Cortis — women’s field hockey at Assumption University
Alicia MacRury — women’s soccer at Southern New Hampshire University
Eamon McCarthy — men’s lacrosse at The College of Wooster

“We are proud to celebrate our graduating student-athletes as they begin the next chapter of their academic and athletic careers,” said Principal John Murray. “This time of year offers a chance to reflect on the growth and success our students have achieved during their four years here, and we look forward to seeing all they will accomplish in their future endeavors.”

“I want to congratulate each of our seniors on this amazing accomplishment,” said Superintendent Armand Pires. “We are proud of all they have achieved in the classroom and on their teams at Medway High School, and we are excited to watch as they begin this next adventure in their lives.”
