Rivalry History: Hopkinton has won 6 of the last 8 meetings with Medfield including last season’s meeting in Medfield. The Warriors did win the last meeting in Hopkinton in 2014 by a final of 29-7. Since 2004 Medfield has won 4 of the 6 games played at Hopkinton.
Hopkinton Hillers:
The Hillers halted their 3 game losing streak with a resounding 45-14 win over Bellingham. Hopkinton’s Isaac Stillwell and Connor Herbert rushed for over 250 yards two TDs each. Ryan Kelleher added a 2 yard TD run in the 4th quarter and Jimmy Adams threw a 39 yard TD pass to Nick Stanley. The Hilers defense has been giving up 28.6 points per contest but their opponent this week is averaging just 16.8 point of offense per game. The Hillers went 6-5 last season and qualified for the D3 playoffs before losing to Duxbury in the Southwest Sectional Quarterfinals. Coach Girard lost twenty seniors from last year’s squad and the team has struggled at times to replace that leadership so far in 2016.
Medfield Warriors:
The Warriors lost 36-20 at Westwood on Friday to fall to 4-2 on the year. The game was closer than the score would indicate as Westwood only led 22-14 at halftime. QB Ryan Eamer threw for 188 yards on 19 completions but also tossed 3 interceptions. Mason Guinta had an 85 yard kick-off return for a score and Liam O’Toole had a 45-yard interception for a TD in defeat. TE James Voss, sophomore receiver Mitchell Gosner and junior Jake Dobbs have been the top targets so far for Eamer. Medfield lost their last six games of the season last year but started off well in 2016 winning four of their first five games.
