On Saturday December 2nd, the Millis Mohawks defeated Hoosac Valley 37-0 at Gillette Stadium to claim the division 8 state title. It was the 2nd straight state title for Millis who defeated Maynard in 2016, 30-18 to take the Division 4A title.
The Mohawks dominated all game long and much of the 2nd half was wasting clock as they took a 24-0 lead heading into the halftime locker room. In the 1st quarter, Senior QB, Bryce Latosek connected with Ray Hilaire for a 37 yard touchdown pass, Andrew Brooks knocked extra point through for 7-0 lead with 6:23 left.
Millis continued a drive from the 1st quarter into the 2nd and Dom Zonfrelli capped it off with a 6 yard touchdown run at 9:17 left. The Andrew Brooks extra point made it 14-0. Brooks added a 32 yard field goal with 4:01 left to put Millis up 17-0. The Mohawks then forced a Hoosac Valley punt and with 43 seconds left in the half followed up with a 50 yard bomb from Bryce Latosek to a wide open Andrew Brooks and with another successful extra point took a 24-0 lead into half.
The Mohawks added 2 more touchdowns in the 3rd quarter, a 10 yard run on a keeper by Bryce Latosek with 4:35 left and also a 14 yard touchdown pass from Latosek to Brooks with 1:22 left. Brooks missed the extra point keeping the score 37-0 Millis. No score from either team in the 4th quarter as the Millis defense shut down a pair of long Hoosac Valley drives.
